Bark Mulch

Bark mulch is made from the cambium layer of the Radiata Pine, the same tree from which we receive our traditional decorative or nugget bark.

This cambium layer is the "growing" part of the tree, making it a mixture of both new wood and bark. The resulting combination provides long fibrous material that keeps the mulch together. This helps the mulch to act as a moisture retainer and temperature controller to the soil, acting as 'blanket' over the soil and roots as well as promoting healthy microbial growth within the soil. In terms of serving its 'groundcover purpose' this is the best bark and mulch option available - and it looks pretty snazzy too.

This dark coloured mulch is great for decorative purposes and for steep gardens where washouts may occur.

Black Mulch

Our black mulch gives your garden that wow factor!

100% recycled from untreated timber and dyed with an environmentally friendly oxide colourant derived from charcoal, the mulch has a deep, rich black colour to it.

Black mulch looks ideal in any garden, especially with strong colours to contrast against, and along the side of houses and driveways, and is our best looking bark and mulch option.

Redwood Mulch

Our redwood mulch is created, as the name suggests, from mulched up redwood trees offcuts, bark and the cambium layer.

This mulch has a warm colour to it and works well to contrast against the typical colours found within your garden. Note, this product is not made with any red dyes. Relatively inexpensive, redwood mulch is ideal for use in gardens and walkways but also works particularly well around your fruit trees and other newly established trees.

Tree Mulch

This mulch is a bit of pot-o-luck, comprised of local aborists' chips and mulches.

Consisting of a mixture of different trees and branches that happen to be cut and chipped in the area, this inexpensive mix has a very natural forest floor look to it.

Tree mulch acts as a moisture retainer and temperature controller to the soil, acting as 'blanket' over the soil and roots as well as promoting healthy microbial growth within the soil the mulch breaks down and provides nutrients.

Tree mulch is our cheapest bark and mulch option.

Nugget Bark

Bark stripped from New Zealand's favourite tree Radiata Pine.

The bark nuggets are screened to be between 20-50mm in size. Bark nuggets are a traditional look and are ideal for a decorative ground cover, helping to retain moisture, suppress weeds and control soil temperatures.

A little bit retro... but never gone out of style! This bark and mulch option is suited to a wide range gardens and compliments most styles and colours.

Decorative Bark

Also from Radiata pine as nugget bark is, decorative bark is a smaller grade in both length and thickness.

Decorative bark is ideal for a decorative ground cover option, helping to retain moisture, suppress weeds and control soil temperatures.

As it is smaller it has a finer look to it, making it ideal for small sections or gardens around the property. Being a more standardised and smaller size, decorative bark is also good for walking upon - barefoot or not.
